"There was little to smile about when my family and I wandered into the small, dark, cozy theater to see Duke's Double. Having met John Wain, the perfomer, at a local restaurant only the night before, we were anxious to see the show, but our hearts were heavy. Just days before we had left a town behind, offered her up to hurricane Rita, asked her to be merciful, and never looked back. We arrived in Branson not knowing if our home was standing and unable to reach friends and family. My father, a fan of John Wayne for decades, thought see a show would help our heavy hearts. He could not have been more right.
I'm not going to divulge all the wonderful surprises in this show, but I will tell you this; this show is so wonderful that for the hours we sat watching we were without worry, without care..we were entranced and happy, joyful and exuberant. This, quite possible, is the best show that I have ever seen.
Now, I'm no rookie...I've even been to the Winter Garden Theater! I've seen many Broadway shows and attended many plays and festivals. Nothing, however, can compare to this experience. It's so personal and moving! It's to fun and enlightening. Every moment was full of heart. The performer gave it his all, every second...and I appreciated that. You will leave the show feeling special, warm and wonderful. If you miss it, you have missed greatest show in Branson.
On a personal note, I want to say this; I took both of my children to see this show. My son, whose father left when he became ill as a boy, never took his eyes off John Wain. He understood every word, every emotion and every song. I was never so touched as a Mother when I looked over and saw my son cry a much needed cry during this show. Later he would tell me, "john Wain really like me." That is how PERSONAL AND WONDERFUL this show is! My daughter shed a tear (as did everyone else in the theater) when John Wain transformed himself into Brennan. And as for me? Well, I used to "Danny Boy" to that same sick little boy when he was ill and when John Wain performed the timeless classic, I could not believe my ears. Never before has the song been sung more beautifully. Every turn this show takes is one that will amaze you.
This show is the treasure of Branson. It was the experience of a lifetime. If you are coming to Branson, make this your first reservation.
